This is a nice theater. Old fashion. Reminds me of growing up as a kid. I like it a lot. Compare to Century downtown Doco, this is way better. Downtown parking is a major headache from picking a space to walking further to get to the theater. People everywhere, including homeless. Regal parking is very convenient, and there's so many things to do before and after viewing. My boyfriend and I decided to see Planet Apes yesterday (May 10th, 2024) at 6:35 PM. That was the earliest showing available nearest to where we live. We didn't want to drive further out or go to a different part of Sacramento. The last time I been here was about 4 or 5 years ago. Things changed a lot. Less workers and way fewer customers. For me, both are bonuses. I don't like crowded places. It literally was almost like a library. Perfect atmosphere for an introvert. The ticket costs $21.50 per person for 4DX theater version. We sat in theater 12 at the D section (lower center, mid range). Theater 12 is the only one that has smoke, water and vibrating seats. Worth every penny. It felt like a roller coaster from hell. My boyfriend couldn't stop making monkey noises and laughing every time the seats vibrate. The closest reminder is the Star Wars theater theme ride in-door at Disneyland. The hydraulic seats react to the movie's content. If there were a water scene, the seats rock gently. A chase or fight scene, the seats violently shake (sideways and forward), like a Boing 737 airplane crashing. Basically a sumo earthquake! You cannot eat or drink while watching at theater 4DX. There is no warning about this. A waste of money on such items. At the front of the theater, smoke shoots out at fire scenes. At each seat, tiny water splashes (similar to grocery store veggies getting hoe) at water scenes. I wish the screen be much wider and larger to get a realistic experience. The experience be 100x better if they had gigantic subwoofers and lot more speakers. (front, back, side and center of theater). Also, the place needs to be pitch black, except with tiny lights for the steps on the side isles. At home, I have a huge screen TV with super loud subs and speakers that screams and vibrates. Paying $21.50 wasn't needed. Just wanted a night out with the boyfriend. Planet Apes was a slightly above okay-level movie. Too dumb down for my taste. Felt like a junior high school concept and production. Basically, it's 1 chimp, 1 gorilla nemesis and a white girl. Two main scenery in the entire movie: jungle and beach. (Not much variety.) There was no "middle." Just a long beginning and rushed end part to the movie. Seriously, no character development and story concept. The plot is to save the apes. Subplot: save humans. The end. Will not see another ape movie again (boring). But definitely will be back to 4DX only. Different is good.

I haven't been to the movies in a long time ! I just relocated back to the area after being away for 10 years and I still enjoy this theater! Lots of parking and I take advantage of the Discount Tuesdays ! I purchased a movie ticket, a kids popcorn and drink with chocolate almonds all for $20 ! The service at the snack bar was a little slow but the associates were friendly! I always get there a little early anyway! The restrooms needed a little more attention but over all a good experience at this location!

Hubby and I decided to stop in for date night to see Meg 2: The Trench. This was an incredible 5 star worthy movie, filled with action, heart and comedy throughout! For watching the film we received 1 collectible movie ticket in the Regal app! Have you seen it yet? I would recommend this large and beautiful location with an arcade, photo booth, party room and concession stands! The seats are decent and the screen is large with great sound and they keep it cool, I should have brought a jacket! SYOY! :-) Music: Tropic by Jeff Kaale
